| first 1911 I bought my first .45 in 1968 as part of a 3 gun deal-.45,m1 carbine, and astra cub .22 short. I had to borrow the money from the bank-didn't have the $150 to buy the "deal". Ishot the .45 quite a lot and got hooked on 'em. I have a "kit" gun from Tom Forrest and built it and it was so-so. Then I got a national match-pre series 70 and really liked it and it is my standard to which all others are compared. To make a long story even longer, I got ataurus pt 1911 about a year ago and have done some side-by side shooting with the NM. I was using some 1966 rem. national match and win 210 gr semi lead wadcutter-both are over 40 yrs old and shoot fantastic. The taurus to me is really close to the colt in accuracy ,trigger pull, and my ability to shoot both guns-I am getting old and shaky. I would buy another taurus in a heartbeat-the price has gone from 600 to700 now. The colonel |
