| Registered User | Happens to me fairly often, but I shoot poppers twice a month in competition. Last time was two matches ago and I caught a 230-grain, .45 round in the right arm that gave me a pretty good gash. Raised some goose pimples, and was very distracting, but I finished the stage before I saw I was bleeding. Worst example was shooting at a target set up at 100 yards at the base of a cinder cone (hardened lava cone) with a 30-06 and caught one in the sternum. Came so close to going into shock actually went to my knees. Broke the skin and left a big welt, but did not penetrate. Am a firm believer in eye protection. |

| Senior Member | I was testing some supposedly amour piercing .357 mag. loads. I shot an old engine block (dumb ass) and the bullet splattered and came back. a piece hit my buddy in the chest and didn't penetrate and another hit me in the left abdomen and poked a hole in me. didn't hurt but when my finger went into my gut cavity, we rushed to the hospital! I had visions of every gut shot animal I've seen. luckily all it did was poke a hole and stopped on the outside of my stomach. my fat gut came in handy that day!

| Moderator ![]() | One day at the indoor range I go to, there was someone with a couple of .50 cal revolvers. He was probably compensating for something in his personal life. Anyway, he kept shooting the hand cannon and I got sprayed every so often with ricochet coming back 25 yards. They were flattened splatters of lead. He damaged the backstop at this small range and the owner banned him from using them again.
