The Hi-Point .45 is about exactly the same weight as a 1911. It may feel like a power drill in the hand, but the weight is about the same. Doubt it if y'all want, but the scale does not lie.

Now that is the funniest description I've read yet! Funny because it seems true. Wonder if anyone ever put one of those level bubbles on their Hi Point?

I have a hi point cf380. It's the biggest calibre I think I can use, given circumstances. It's also the one I could afford--$119 new. Out of the box, at the local range, I was able to keep 'em in a 4" circle at 25 yards. It hasn't malfunctioned. It hasn't given any trouble.

The company has a warantee that can't be beat--as long as the gun exists, they'll fix it, no questions and no charge.

Surfing around, I havn't found anybody saying they bought a hi point and didn't like it, or complaining about reliability.

I'm not a world class pistolero--my experience in firing is limited to the ruger super black hawk--which I hated--the colt 1911--which was a malfunction sink--the P92, and the taurus pt 92, which were ok, the hi standard double 9, which was ok the SW 59--which flat out sucked and the desert eagle .44, which malfuctioned every other round. Oh--the 1858 remington army model by traditions--which I loved. I've owned the Taurus, the hi point and the traditions.

By and large--the best gun, for me, has been the hi point. desert eagles, 1911's, blackhawks--I wouldn't give a spit for 'em.

BTW--if the other brands are so good, why don't they stand behind them.

The cowboy's 2cents:
I work at a gunrange. Some folks bring in hi-points. The only hi-points I've seen have never emptied a full clip without at least half a mag worth of malfunction. I've never fired one though, so it's not like I'm an authority on the subject. But I do believe that if I was tight on money, I would rather spend my $110 bucks on a knife. I just don't want my life depending on a gun that only works for a few people. As far as other companies not standing behind their products? Hmmm... good question. Maybe some of them don't need to fix the gun because it only breaks if a rhinocerous does the irish jig on top. Why offer to fix a gun if it ain't broke? But it's a legitimate concern. Maybe I'll ask the boss...

Sniff, sniff...Someone step in something? Check your boots folks cause I smell doo doo, lol. I sure get a kick out of all you guys that don't own Hi Points that know all about their problems. But please keep spreading the word. The last time I went to look at getting a second C9 the two gun shops were both out of stock and waiting. When I got my original one I waitd 6 weeks hoping to get the comp model, no dice. I finally took a regualr one. Also they are always struggling to get he .45's too. So please, spread the word so they can get production back above demand.

Oh, don't hang your hats on the "fact" that other guns don't break and therefor don't need a warranty. That my friend is pure BS. Truth be told wouldn't a manufacturer rather offer a warranty on something they'll never spend money on or one that will always be back? Remember bean counters think a litte different than we do.

There was another thread that I offered to shoot with anyone from here that happens to be in central Wisconsin. I'll share a box of shells with you and let you fire away with my C9 and write up in these forums how the gun functions. I'd also be more than happy to video the little deal just so there is no "uh huh, that ain't what happened."

Have a good weekend all.

Wiped boots in the grass. Still don't like what I've seen from hi-point performance, but I'm backed down.
Didn't mean to incinuate that other guns are perfect, therefore not needing warranties. Didn't express myself well.
The hi-point fans have the field (this time! .

Hi Point warranty is great. That can't be argued but I don't want to have to use my warranty more than I use my gun. It takes more than a fancy video to make a gun reliable. No matter how nicely you ask the bad guy to come back next week when your gun is out of the shop I doubt he'll do it.

As mentioned before and by others...I'm really looking forward to the arrival of Hi-Points .45 ACP carbine.

...and, I sure wished it would hurry along.

I agree with you 100% KW Gary. I've run over 1500 rounds through my C9 thus far and have yet to have an issue with it. I'm in the same boat, I believe, as most all Hi Point owners based on information from another gun thread I visit. I've even thought of making up something to send mine back just to get the free magazine the company gives the owner for compensation while having it sent in. Of course that would only off set shipping so I might as well just buy a magazine and save the hassle of being without my gun, lol.

I wasn't talking about anything fancy as far as a video goes either. I simply meant that whoever might happen to take me up on my offer can have the session videoed and keep a copy for themselves so it isn't doctored. Honestly this is about the only way a guy could prove to some people that the price and looks of a Hi Point have 100% nothing to do with the guns reliability. It may well look like a power drill, that is hard to debate, but one they ain't is unreliable.

Weight might be the same but how about akwardness for carrying?

I know NOTHING about their pistols, I have plenty of pistols already, don't need any more. But, I finally got the H-P .40 carbine I've been waiting for, and am dying to go shoot it! I can't vouch for anything about it or their quality yet, except it sure is an ugly sumbitch. Damn sure ain't no frills on it, but I wasn't expecting any either for $189.99.

That and the power drill comments sure made me laugh. Ya just gotta love it. The ugliest power drill on the planet is actually a gun! Probably not the best carry gun for most people. But then carrying a 1911 is also not the best choice for CCW either. All guns have their place though and it is up to us to find that niche for ourselves. Tonight for example I'm going to clean out some room in my tool box next to the hammers and see how my C9 looks there!

I always thought HiPoints were ridiculously crappy too, but it seems that the people who own a Hi-Point like them and claim to have no problems with reliability. I'm also warming up to the way they look, and don't find them nearly as ugly as before, they almost look attractive to me now, in a weird way. There's something appealing in that big black square plain-Jane utilitarian look. I may buy one some day to keep in my car and laugh at any dings or scratches it gets from bouncing around in my glove box .

I would still rather save up another $150 and buy a Millennium. Am I safe to assume your user name says you agree with me?

Wow, $300, I had no idea they were that reasonable. Yes, I think you sold me on the idea.

I owned a hi point and it was ok. For someone with shaky hands the hi points weight was a god send. I now have the witness 10mm and the weight is about the same and a heck of a lot more accurate. I am about to buy another hi point though in either 45 or 9 mm. I sure wish I hadn't sold my first one. Lesson is cheap doesn't equal junk and don't judge a book...well you know the rest. Oh yeah as far as cheap doesn't mean junk I will add doesn't always mean junk (refering to the Commanche 357 yeah I know you told me so)

I think that is the best deal around for a 9MM right now. Great car gun or back pack gun.

Taurus Fan, are you a Hi Point pervert in training? Nothing wrong with that at all. And certainly nothing wrong with Taurus brand guns either. I do recall a time not all that long ago that Taurus was in the same boat Hi Point is now. By that I mean cheap and not well regarded. People were proven wrong for sure. Will Hi Points morph into what Taurus is now? I hope not. Another good cheap gun are the revolvers from Charter Arms. Sturdy, inexpensive, and about as durable as an anvil, and sharp looking to boot.

I have no problem with guys saving up for more expensive machinery. I'm just of the school that the more I buy the more I have and the happier I'll be. Someday a Kimber and Colt will be in my vault as well as my Hi Points, a couple Charters, and whatever else I happen to find. Just remember there are nuts and then there are gun nuts. I'm both!
