| Senior Member | R.I.P. Dan Wesson revolvers
"There will be no production of revolvers in the foreseeable future. The cost of retooling and materials would not be justified by the minimal sales the revolvers would generate." The official policy of CZ Arms as confirmed by Ken Lawton and Genny Dutcher. |

A shame to see this. I have owned several over the years and have always been pleased. I used one in 44 mag to compete in IHMSA matches (way back when)

Sad to see them go but I bet the value will go up for sure. Pick one up now if you can.

I'm upset about this on one hand because I own one and I love everything about except pushing that pin back in after a cylinder or so of rounds. But, I suppose, if the value goes up I can't be that upset.

| Well, these guns did have their fans
but market share just did not materialize. It is just a risk of launching a new product in a market already saturated with guns and cartridges.

They are super accurate guns. Two friends have owned them and they were fine guns. One was a 10" barreled .357 magmum.

I think it's a sign of the times, nathangdad. A lot of the younger shooters I've seen aren't interested in revolvers because they don't hold enough ammo and they believe a 3" group at 25 yards is "tight". Revolvers are considered an "old timer's" weapon; I've been quoted the line ("A lot of old-timers carry those.") out of Lethal Weapon more times than I can count. Heaven forbid that you shoot a single action; they consider that something right out of the Stone Age.

People just don't understand the value of revolvers. Very strong, very reliable, and jamming (what's that?)

I have encountered this quite a bit. I love my .44mag. Never jams, no failure to load, and no failure to fire. As for the holding more ammo, if you can't take someone down with six shots (especialy with a .44mag. You wont need them all) YOU SHOULDN'T FIRE A WEAPON! Let them go chase the autoloaders, that means more revolvers at better prices for those of us who love'em!

I prefer revolvers over autoloaders. I got a Ruger Sec. Six that has been like a rock.

The cost of labor is doing them all in. Revolvers are hard to make. They actually have more moving parts than an automatic. First Colt, now DW. I'm pretty confident Ruger is not going to quit any time soon. Neither will SW.

I HAVE A MODEL 15-2 VH, 6" BBL. I PICKED UP AN 8" HEAVY DRILLED AND TAPPED FOR A SCOPE AT A LOCAL GUNSHOP, BOUGHT A 10" HV BBL OUT OF THE LOCAL ADVERTISER PAPER, AND THEN BOUGHT A 2" HV BBL AT A GUNSHOW. I PAID ABOUT A TOTAL OF $410 FOR EVERTHING. HECKUVA GOOD PRICE FOR A (PISTOL PAC). I ALSO HUNT WHITETAIL WITH A TC CONTENDER IN A .445 SUPER MAG. LOVE THAT CAL.

I'm with you revolver guys. Let'um have their auto's. The laughing stops when I bring in targets with really small groups, some holes overlapping, shot with a Super Blackhawk or GP-100. My GP recvently saved me from myself. Made a mistake in handloading. Charged a 357 with 15 gr. Blue Dot instead of 10.5. Nearly a 500% overcharge. The primer was blown out of the case and jammed the action. Cleared the action, loaded with known good loads and went right on shooting. Let's see a plastic auto stand up to that abuse. Thank you Bill Ruger. I too love the long magnums like 357 Maximum, made opular by the Dan Wessons. They wil be missed. |
