I had several of these rifles over the years. Surplus ammo is very hard to find, but I have some leftover, if interested. No clips left, though. Ammo is a mix of several headstamps & is VERY nice !
$1.50 per round. Min. 25 rd purchase. PM me if interested.
There is a trading post section for selling stuff here.
This ain't it.
The original poster asked where to find some ammo & I told him about some I had that I would sell. I was just trying to help another shooter out. If that is out of line, a moderator would need to step in & let me know. Not you.
Much of the surplus ammo for these rifles is becoming collectible, so therefore, not very cheap.

Once again, I reload it. It isn't any more than most other rifle rounds.

I also reload 8x56r. I got 40rds of surplus from J&G when I bought the rifle, then bought a box of the Hornadys as well. I ordered the dies before the rifle, because of the scarcity of ammo. I resize jacketed .338 bullets to .329 and load them. I got a hundred 225gr SP .338s for 24.99 on sale at Grafs. The Prvi bullets are the same price, but FMJ. It takes some effort to resize them, but its worth it. The Steyr is super fun to shoot. I got my clips from Old West Scrounger.
I got an M95 back in the summer. The metal and wood finish are excellent. Someone has redone the wood in oil finish, and did it well.I'm having my front sight built up by a 'smith. As these rifles come, most all of them will shoot 4-5" high even at close range, and that's with the rear sight set all the way down.
I got some Prvi ammo, some surplus stuff in enbloc clips, and some Hornady (Graf) soft points.I wish that the 8X56 stuff was as plentiful and cheap as the 7.62X54R ammo!!

Well, I probably got ripped some on the one I mentioned in my earlier post, but that has happened before. Most of the time, I think I make pretty good deals, and I've gotten a few VERY good deals in 40+ years.
But I have been trying to picture in my mind what an M95 would look like if the stock was cut back behind the sling band and the handguard was removed (sporterized). The way the back of the rear sight fastens may leave an "ugly" with the handguard removed, however.
Reckon where a fellow could get another original stock CHEAP to experiment with? My stock is too nice to whittle on.

It would look something like this. I've since cut off another 4" of the stock and it will be DuraCoated Black Oxide and a recoil pad added. Note that I had this converted to bottom load to get the scope on. It 'points' very nice. I've done this with 3 stocks. 2 had the swivels but this last one had none so I didn't have to patch that.
The 'family' pic shows my first effort. the wood was decent but needed patching at the swivels. It's at a gunsmith now and will also have scope and bottom load, but converted to 7.62x54R (.308 22" barrel). I'm anxious to get that back but it may be a couple months.
The stocks came from e-gunparts and were long rifle stocks cut down. They were $21 each I believe.
BTW, does that one in the middle of the 'family' picture look familiar, Ganny?
I still haven't given up finding an operable M95M, but I'd change it from 8x57 to 6mm Rem, which is basically a 6x57. Same basic brass so it should work and I NEED a 6mm.
