Good thread !
For me it is RCBS RII (rockchucker) and precision rcbs dies for 308.
Reason: Precision.........sounded real high tech. ha

Old blue Dillon 550 4 stage

RCBS hand primer (don't leave home without one)

Numerous measuring devices, and assorted 'stuff/crap' accumulated between me and my brother since 1972 or so. Even got a few thingys I aint so sure about.

Tom

PS - All rifle loads are thrown then trickled. I also do this with hot .44 mag loads, and hot 45 70, but haven't loaded any for quite a while, as I don't seem to be quite as mad at the targets as I used to be.

yesterday i tried running IMR4227 through the dillon.
i wanted 25.2 grains
after fine tuning
it was throwing them dead-nuts on
so i just started yankin that lever.
whipped up
20 rounds of .454 casull in just a few minutes.

By the way - for those defending the Lee equipment. No need to anymore. If any mfg of loading equipment makes a lousy product....word will get around quick. I think this comes from the 60s/70s, when Lee made the "hand" loader. A simple device that people either learned to use, or feared.
It did look a little Mickey Mouse, but since then, Lee has joined the Dillons and Rcbs' in making a fine product.

i have NEVER seen a press make crappy ammo.

us loaders are worse than any sewing circle.
if something sucked
the world would hear about it loud and clear.

And I fully believe that to be perfectly safe. I think I developed an old habit and simply won't let go. Fortunately, I don't use that many rifle rounds so it doesn't pose a problem. Only load shot shells and .45 Colt in any volume, and the colt are cowboy loads and I do the same as you.....pull and let fly. As you know, I only have to watch it that I don't double throw......

The hot 45 70, were simply just fer fun when we were younger and everyone wanted a hot-un. Most (not all) of my friends were content to shoot the blue pills ONCE. hee hee. This was through my Ruger #1.
Now I really enjoy the .45 lighter loads. When I shoot the Sako 308....I tend to get a little more fussy. ha

If you have a pistol/rifle that can handle it, and you want to get a little daring with that 45LC Tom, try a 250gr. hornady XTP over 25.7grs of 296 with any brand of large pistol mag primer. It's a minimum load according to hodgdon (H110 data) and is a screamer! Nothing in texas on 2 or 4 legs inside of 120 yards would be walking away from that load. Out of a rifle that is. That's the load I used to shoot out of my Marlin 1894cb but now I'm just going to a Lee 252-452 over unique.

Everything of mine is green, including my RCBS Turret Press. Getting ready to buy my third turret (head) so I do not have to remove dies to change calibers.

Just got an RCBE 1500 Chargemaster combo scales/powder dispenser. If I only had some time to get her out for a run!

that would depend on the price and the condition, but I would be interested to say the least. mine has over 18,000 9mm rounds put through it a couple thousand 45 auto and probably 4,000 various rifle rounds, not to mention the other 3,000 various pistol rounds ran through it as well and my press had 3 previous owners so I am sure it has had a full life... I know I got my moneys worth out of it!!! that is about 28,000 rounds with most needing 4 strokes of the handle!

Started reloading shotgun shells in 1967 with a Mec 650 Jr. Then in '69 I bought a used Mec 500 progressive. Don't remember what year I got my Lyman press. In 1980 I got an RCBS Rockchucker. In 1984 I got a Mec Grabber progressive. In the 80s and 90s I went through 8,000 to 10,000 rounds of trap loads per year. That old Mec has had a good work out.

I load more pistol than rifle, so I use Lee more than RCBS.
