| Weatherby Vanguard I originally posted this in big game hunting...perhaps this is a better place to get an answer. I've been looking at a weatherby vanguard in 300wby. I understand these are not the same as the Mark V's. Anybody have one of these or ever used one. I'm wondering if a Weatherby at that price can be as accurate, durable, or well made as the ones that cost 2.5x as much.

| I have one of the wood stocked ones but havent really tried it out yet. Seem to be nicely put togeather and tame the recoil nicely, dosen't kick as hard as my 30-06 remington. I think it is a good buy. Russ |

| its not the Mark V action, but its still a very good action. Frank DeHas in his book "Bolt Action Rifles" liked his. |

| Super Moderator ![]() | What's the trigger like on them? I was debating between Weatherby Vanguard in 300 Wby Mag and Savage 111G in 300 Rem Ult Mag. I decided on the Savage in Ultra because it was available with open sites, had the more modern and inherently accurate cartridge (with a flat shoulder that was used to headspace), and was a little more powerful. Also because Savage is known for accuracy. But did I make the right choice? Just wondering how well liked the Wby is.
