The prototype weighs in at 55lbs and the standard weighs 110 lbs. That's a big gun.

I don't see a practical use for that large of a gun, which is why I now want one!

The only gun I've personally seen that is as big as that is a shoulder-fired harpoon gun from the blackpowder era that was used in rowed whaleboats in the Whaling Museum in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

That thing fires cartridges that compare to World War II standard 20mm cannon shells as the 7.62x25 Tokarev compares to the .30-06 Government. I do have to ask, "What is the point?" The South African 20mm and 30mm bolt guns that fire cannon shells are meant to be used in the sniper role against vehicles, drums of petroleum products, ammo crates and buildings. So I ask again, what is the point of that rifle?

I wonder what the max effective range of that thing is?

I get a shoulder bruise just watching them shoot it .

The scope caught my attention right away. It has a long eye relief and small. Looks like they used a pistol scope with two sets of rings to hold it.

why didn't they make it a 1" rifle cartridge? why go to all that trouble and fall short by .05"? And then to put a muzzle break on it to boot. What a waste

The argument that I hear alot is, it is his rifle. He doesn't need a reason to built something impractical and ridiculous other than because he wants to. Now, that being said, that thing is awesome. Biggest rifle I ever shot was a Ruger No.1 in 375 H&H, I couldn't imagine what that thing would feel like.

Multiple points...

1. Because it was THERE!!

2. Because some rifle shooters are Masochists and like to be smacked around...sad but true.

3. Because sometimes, when you want to obliterate a target, you REALLY want to obliterate a target

4. Lets see...if a guy gets a stiffler from shooting an M-60 machine gun...wonder what THAT will do??

Wink

Now I'm wondering about a handgun in that caliber.

I just love the functionality of having rifles and handguns paired in the same caliber.....

I seen one of these take out a tank at 3 miles well i was in kuwait and man was that a defning experiance. It rocked the vehicle it was mounted on so bad the guy had to be tied to the platform so he wasn't thrown from the vehicle and the gun was mounted on shocks to absorb the recoil. The scope was a canon scope and the back blast off the muzzle brake would almost knock you over.
