And so it begins, Remington 700 rebuild

The barrel for my Remington 700 arrived today, Shilen Varmint Barrel, 5.5 contour, 1 in 10 twist for my 30-06. In the same truck was the Choate Varmint stock. Plenty of barrel channel in that stock to free float most any barrel. The Timney trigger is due in tommorow, then it'll be off to the gunsmith to install the barrel, true the action, and finish the chamber reaming.

I plan to use the same Bushnell 6-18X50 glass that's on it now, at least until I feel that the glass is holding me back. With my eyesight, that may never happen.

Not even to the smith yet and I'm frothing at the mouth to shoot it. Can't wait to put the first cold bore shot down range. A whole new life for my trusty friend.

Check out the 208 amax and 210 bergers. Wih some powders guys are getting 2700 fps with great accuracy. Have you considered having the muzzle threaded in the event you want to brake or suppress in the future?
