| Super Moderator ![]() | 35 Remington Semi-auto conversion I just tried an empty 35 Rem in my AR mag, and sure enough it fits without modification. And it looks like there's just enough length for it to be loaded with 357 Rem Mag bullets, which was my intention with the idea of a 35 caliber semi-auto carbine. I had for a time thought an AK better for this due to greater slop, more powerful cycling, and the fact that its been done before. And I've started a design of my own based on the SKS. So the dilemma is which one to do?

| Super Moderator ![]() | The 350 Remington is a high pressure round with a magnum base. It would be a good round for actions suited to the Winchester Short magnums. It has a ballistic twin, the long action 35 Whelen, based on the 30-06, which is occasionally chambered in Remington's 7600 Pump rifles and a long time ago in a few rare Remington 7400 Semi-autos.

| Senior Member | Well, in my ignernt, most humble opinion.....since the AR can already be bought commercially in .308 (Yippie!), and the AK is worth more than the SKS...I'd vote for modifying the SKS. Isn't the rim on the 35 Remington going to be a bit of a challenge? |

| Super Moderator ![]() | Two years ago I began a conversion of an AKM to 35 Remington. Actually got a good bit of progress before deciding I had to redo part of it for safety reasons. Need to finish it now.
