Whats the new gun of the week?

Since I have been here there seems to be one gun talked about per week. There was the 91/30 Mosin for awile, the AK-47 & friends, and then the CZ52. So Ive been waiting patiently for the new gun to talk about. Im sure Joe's got one that he will talk about.

new gun....old question

I'm still waiting to hear some opinions about the new Auto Ordnance M1.
It may be so new that no one's bought one yet.

Bought a shotgun and no one cared, 'cept LD. Not many shotgunners here. Gotta go to graybeard to get my fix.

The Auto-Ordnance carbine looks like a pretty good weapon. I have always had an interest in owning a .30 carbine, but never took the plunge. A few years ago I almost bought an IMI carbine. Israili Military Industries started using some military parts plus newly manufactured receivers I believe. The stocks were red stained birch. Auto-Ordnance is a respectable manufacturer and I may get my chance to try one.

I've heard good things about the AO Carbine, but I'll stick with my IMI til I can find a decent GI model. Birch stock on the IMI? Maybe, but it's a more open grain than most birch. Had to strip and restain mine to make it look proper.
I'm more of a rimfire enthusiast, and generally go elsewhere for my serious "Little-bullet" fix. Once in a while, someone here will get an interesting rimfire thread going.
I'm not that much into handguns or shotguns, being mostly a rifle shooter - but I'm flexible too.

Joe, got your eye on CZ52 Number Eight yet?

How does your IMI shoot? I am sorry I didn't buy one at a gun show a couple of years back. I talked to a local dealer about ordering one and the price he quoted was about two times as much. Because I am at a loss for .30 carbine knowledge, I was going to order Kuhnhausen's manual on them. Any suggestions on what to look for?

About 4~6 weeks ago. Range reports and all, pattern photo's etc. Don't hold it against folks here, nothing personal. The shotgun scene is weak here, unless it's a fighting gun.

Oh, I don't know about that, Jerry. I got a Remington 870 magnum with a 20" cyl. bore and rifle sights. I added a 9 shot extension tube and a custom flash hider. Nice wood and extreamly smooth action! Good to hunt with and good for the fight, if needed. Still need a sling and tactical light support...but, we'll get there as money flow permits.

Thumbs up

Indy, mine will do about a two-inch group at fifty yards, with Rem/UMC ammo. The issue peep site isn't really precise. I haven't tried hand-loading for it yet, and could maybe improve accuracy a bit. I paid about $425 for mine, and am happy considering a good GI Carbine starts around $650.

I have my Remington 870 Express set-up for defense use. Barrel shortened to 20 inches, a folding PG stock, 8-round mag tube extension, six-roun side-saddle carrier and a 13-round shell carrier sling. Rifle sights added to the vent rib. Finally, a custom camo paintjob.

I still have my 870 sixteen gauge and Noble 20 gauge pumps for hunting.
Also, a JC Higgins 20-gauge bolt shotgun, a Stevens .410 bolt singleshot, and a Kessler 16-gauge bolt shotgun.

Have any of you tried the Saiga AK47 actioned 12 ga.? I got mine about 2 months ago and I love it. 5 shot box mag, post & notch sights, syn stock. You can let loose 5 rounds as fast as you can sqeeze the trigger and keep it on the target. My kids love to shoot it to, almost no kick. Right now I'm looking for an thumbhole stock for it and my friend is converting some tru-glo sights for it. And the best part its cheap & reliable, if you get the chance to try one do it.

I really need a new 870. I have a 20 gauge that was my first gun, but as days go by, and more donuts go in, I have almost outgrown the 20 gauge. I would really like to own a 12 ga. 870 in left-handed. Not having to reach around for the safety is a huge plus to quicker shooting. Then I would like to have another 870 to customize for self defence and all sorts of stuff. There is no end to what you can do with these puppies. Still looking for a good price on a used one though.
