alright fellas need ome expert advice. i recently bought a yugo sks and love it!! paid 100 bucks handpicked... now im thinking about my next purchase. I checked j and g's full inventory on the net and am stuck between 2 very different rifles... on one hand a 22 or a nagant m44, hmmmm.... the 22 listing went like this... SQUIRES BINGHAM M16, 22LR CALIBER SEMI AUTO RIFLE, IN GOOD TO VERY GOOD CONDITION (15-1078) $ 169.95 sounds fun... so i check it out on the net and looks like a fun gun to go shooting with... but i mean who could resist the charm of that mosin nagant m44 staring at me for $70? both of them have cheap ammo so thats not a factor for me... but which do i want? i think i am leaning toward the .22 merely because i did just buy that yugo sks... so both of my rifles(the winchester .243, and the yugo sks) have a fairly good kick... i dont really wanna keep borrowing my dads 10/22... what would you do? thanks in advance for the help... oh yah sorry if this is in the wrong forum... didnt know where to put it |

I've had a philipine squires bingham for 20 years. The firing pin recently stopped moving in it. Its kind of weird, it's a regular rifle action bedded in a wooden stock that looks like an AR. it has weaver grooves cut right in the barrell and that's where the handle goes. It's worked well since I was a whipper snapper. I still have mine and plan to get it fixed eventually. If you live in california, there;s a .22 AKM on sale at turners for 229 this week. If it were me, and I had no .22 rifle, Id pay the little extra for a ruger or marlin. they both work better and are more accurate. The bingham does NOT miss at 100 yards though. I have lit ohio blue tip matches with it at 50. but it does jam a bit and needs to be cleaned al0t. dont shoot lead nosed with it.

$70 for a Mosin that you can inspect in person is a good deal. If its condition is good, I'd go for it and get a more standard 22. Mags and support are some reasons, accessories too. Good luck!
