For a truck gun I would probably have a hi point carbine. The .45 ACP model better come out soon because that would be an excellent thing to have for defense.

S&W .44 in my 18. Riverside 12 guage pump in my pickup. Anything will take out a truck just go for the steer tires and radiator and it won't go far.

Would be cool if they remade a Tommy Gun at a decent price. I'd love to have one.

Depends on the area I'm going into. Just decent areas, 38 snubbie, bad areas, high cap springfield XD 9mm.

I have 2 favorites with an option : A auto Ord "PIT BULL" .45 cal, and a win '94 big bore in .375, sometimes I swap the '94 for a 1941 M1 carbine with a couple of 30's. you never know what animals you'll have to deal with on a given day.

Bersa 380 on off side,GI 1911 strong side,45-70 behind seat, short barrel BAR in 8mm on back seat.(kinda climbs on slow auto, and have to hold onto doorpost when in fast auto)...........In MO you can have a weapon concelled on your person while in the vehicle even w/o a CCW. But cannot carry out of vehicle unless have the permit.

I keep a 30-30 in the trunk of the car and then when I am using the truck the rifle makes its way behind the seat.

I had to use mine the other night to finish off a fawn I smacked. Three broken legs and it couldn't stand up. The crows got a snack.

I hate it when that happens. I never got to see the last one I hit. He "got the buck out of there".

Old bud of mine drives an 18 and he carries a Stevens 20 ga double barrel that has been chopped to the absolute minimum OAL and barrel. What he needs it for depends on what he feeds into it. He took a load of swinging meat up to Chicago a while back and got in a little early and they werent open. He backed his trailer into a corner with the cab jacknifed and then set and waited. From that position, he had brick wall on two sides and he could see the other two. He said the "looters" showed up pretty quick thinkin they were gonna have fresh meat, One of them was carrying a new pair of bolt cutters for his locks.

He just rolled down the windows and put some #5's in the beast and raked the side of the trailer. He said the cab muffled the shots pretty good, he knocked one guy down and the other one dropped the bolt cutters. They ran off. He has an "S" shaped hook, and he hooked it in the trigger guard and dropped the beast down from the top between his pipes and the heat shield. Wasnt too long before the cops came around asking questions. He played dumb, they searched his truck and he told them he had to get to the dock as the place was opening so they left him be. He did pick up a right nice pair of Rigid bolt cutters though.

He pulled outside of town and stopped at a rest area and retrieved his rooster gun and came on back to Dodge City.

Reb and Bounty, you guys are making me miss hauling freight. I pull piggybacks where we have to drive one way and fly back. Makes carrying and buying guns on the road a real hassle, although I still buy and carry ammo and reloading stuff on the road. As for the original question, my previous truck gun was my Chi-Com SKS loaded w\Cor-Bon soft points but I traded it for my Star Super in 9mm Largo (I modified it to use .38 Super brass-much easier to find), so either that or my sportered 91\30 will have to do for now.

Short barrel BAR in 8mm? You MUST tell more! Sounds like quite a unique and interesting rifle!

BH, tell your friend i said congrats and way to go. Had someone try the same thing on me except i was pulled over in a rest area driving cross country with my truck bed full of gear. This guy didnt go for the gear, he went for me instead. Left him unconcious at the rest area tied to a post, and called the local boys at the next town with a location and explanation of what happened. No shots fired--even though probably should have. Buttstroked him with a 12 ga Mossberg, with that nice hard buttplate they used to come with. Turned out they'd been looking for him, and got a good laugh out of it.

An old short barreled 303 Brit with a synthetic stock, black painted steel, and a forward mounted red dot sight. It's quick to load from a stripper clip, and pretty accurate an old knock around rifle.

Dang, I don't have a truck, but when I do get one it'll be either a short 12 gauge pump, a 7.62x39 sks, and/or a .45 Ballester.
