| Super Moderator ![]() | Quick Comparison - Win M70 vs Rem 700 Bull Barrels Handled both the Win M70 Coyote Stainless and the Rem 700 VLS, also in stainless. Also considering blued models of the same. Considering a number of options, but these are two good American made versions. I like Savage too, but am looking elsewhere at the moment. Basically I'm looking for a bull barreled 308 bolt gun for maximum accuracy. Prefer a traditional stock to a thumbhole sniper or varmint stock, but wouldn't rule them all out either. My impression has been that Rem is better on accuracy, but would the M70 be less? I do prefer the positive ejection of the Winchester over the phantom extractor of the Remington. Also wondering if stainless is the way to go or not. Smoother, but shorter barrel life, right? I'd use it plenty but would treat it right. I could get either one in stainless for $500.

| either will most likely outperform the guy shooting it. i just recently set up a remmy 700 for my best friend , and lets say that gun will shoot. .223 heavy blued barrel, laminated stock. i bedded it mounted and lapped in the scope/rings, and adjusted the trigger, and broke it in. at 200yds off a bag with black hills ammo it made numerous 1/2"-3/4" groups on a windy day. that remington really impressed me. |

| My vote is for the 700. Nothing against Winchester, just think the 700 action is stronger. |

| I think that they are both good, but the 700 has a great history of accuracy, and has been the platform of many tactical rifles. The Winchester is pretty good, but the Model 70 ain't what it used to be |
