| Registered User | I know how ya feel.. I bought my sks before I knew much about 'em. The guy told me it was a Russian version and asked a premium for it...I paid it and found it to be a Yugo 59/66..

| Moderator ![]() | Yep. Bought an old Marlin Model A1 semiauto .22 rifle once at the gunshow. Got it home, and a few days later, I found the gun was non-functional. Bolt was battered to the extent the firing pin was stuck in place. The cocking knob would fall off, and the extractor was gone. My tough luck, and ths being in my early gun-buying days, I learned from it! Ah well, several parts from that gun are now on other Marlins. Trigger guard here, the buttplate there . . . the stock will eventually be fitted with a BP inline rifle action. Not a total loss. Made lemonaid from the lemon.

| Super Moderator ![]() ![]() | Can't imagine that anyone who's bought guns in the past hasn't had at least one or more occasions when they felt they'd been taken advantage to some degree within a few days after the cash or guns had exchanged hands. Usually the policy is "let the buyer beware"...or the purchase or trade is "as is." My lastest such occasion occured when I bought a Winchester Model 94 30-30 rifle from my brother in law. And...I didn't notice until later that the gun was missing two parts...the rear sight elevator ramp...and the front sight cover. Nothing major...but yes, I would like to have been aware of those items before buying the rifle. And...finally, I paid about $100 more than some on this forum have said it was worth. However, in browing "Auction Arms.Com" I've found most Model 94's were priced even higher than what I paid. However, all in all I'm happy with the gun now, and the items mentioned above that were missing were low cost and were found fairly easily and installed. Took the Winn 94 30-30 out target shooting recently and now I wouldn't get rid of it for much more than what I paid for it.

| Senior Member | My first handgun that I bought (through the proper channels) was going to be special. So I paid on a payment plan for one of the more expensive 1911 style guns that was in the store. I was young and I had to have something that noone I knew owned. There in the case was my gun, A double stack Para Ordinance P13. (I hate to even type that name) The seller told me how reliable it was and how accurate and "perfect" it was. This was during the time of the "Clinton Mags", So having a 45 that held 13 rounds sounded awesome. When I finally got it, I sent off the cupon that came with it for and extra mag for only 60 dollars. (hmmm what a steal) When I shot it, it jammed on the third round. : Failure to Extract and fed another round into the base of the fired case still in the chamber.: Figured I needed to break it in so 500 rounds later and 3 different mags later (wasn't the mag lips) It was still jamming. I took it back to the dealer and he said 2 things "Just keep shooting it, Break it in!" and then said "aww you are probably just Limp wristing it." ooooooh, I was pissed. I had the feed ramp polished up like the Stanly Cup, and replaced the extractor spring. Still no go. A situation arose where I thought I was going to have to defend myself with it, and I knew the first shot would fire, and would probably do the trick but at that moment I then deemed the firearm unreliable. So 300 dollars later (not counting the cost of the gun) I traded it in for a gun I knew would work and there would be no hesitation with the trade. I traded for a New Ruger P90 with a total of 7 mags, tritium sights and a box of ball ammo. To this day it has never misfired on me once. All in all finantially I was worked over but in reliability I conqured the delima. I heard that Para Ordinance (I hate that name) have improved their products, and have even put in some kind of "Super Extractor" but I have been bitten and I shy away from Para(s) (that is not as hard to type.)

| Super Moderator ![]() ![]() | Good story and final conclusion BigJake. :right: My guess is that many members on G&G have been "messed with" in their gun trades or purchases at one time or another, but just won't admit it.

| Member | Purchased a beautiful Savage model 99 in 300 Savage at a gun show in p.a., and when I got to the range and fired some factory ammo thru her, I discovered case head seperation, which can only mean a head-space problem or a balooned chamber from exessive hand-loads...never saw the dude again... |

| Senior Member | I paid too much for my L1A1. I also bought a Walther P22 once. Then karma did its thing and the guy who sold me the L1A1 bought the P22. Haha.
