Question .223 or .204 ruger

which is the beter varmint caliber and why

The .223 can take down varmints out to about 300 yards depending on rifle, scope, shooter, etc. But it's also easy to comeby and very affordable.

Agreed, I'd rather have the versatility and affordability of the 223, as well as the larger selection of rifles in that chambering.

I've heard that the 204 can be a real tackdriver though.

.223 because it's a bit more versitile if you see something a bit bigger when your hunting.

I'd say .204

Yeah, the .223 will be a lot cheaper to shoot, but check out a ballistics chart and the .204 blows it away. In my opinion there's a big difference in the two. If you're wanting something you can shoot A LOT, then go with the .223 simply based on the fact that it's cheap and still a very accurate and respectable round. Otherwise, for occasional plinking and varmit hunting, step up to the .204 (or even .22-250)

Yeap, same here. If you reload the the 204 is awesome. If not the 223 is a ton of fun and cheap to shoot.
Just depends on what you want.
