.223 cleaning

I am new to shooting and was wondering about a couple things. I purchased my first center fire rifle in .223. Is it okay to clean the bore with a .22 brush? Also what do you think about bore ropes for cleaning rifles? :full:

.22 brush is fine.

If you can't clean your gun from the breach (bolt action) bore ropes make plenty of sense because your not taking a chance on damaging the crown at the muzzle. If you can clean from the breach they are still handy for a quick fileld cleaning. The ropes should be kept clean too, or you just dragging dirt back down the tube.
