Question Winchester 1917

Any one have anything to say about this rifle? Good or bad?
I just put $50 down, on a $400 (*keep in mind I live in Kalifornia*) 1917. Pretty good condition. Still has the rear peep sight, and front sight, but w/out the wings, its drilled and tappered for a scope, and it isnt the original stock, I dont think. Cause, didnt wasnt the original stock two piece, with a hand gaurd? The application for the rifle, would be for profound use of target shooting, and the occasional deer hunt. Basically, I have been lookin for a pretty cheap, accurate, bolt-action, 30-06 rifle, with iron sights. And it seems to me that I found it, just wanted to hear what yall had to say, because it aint to late to say "no thank you". Appreciate the input in advance.

I've got an Eddystone 1917 myself. I got the rifle at a gun show for like $350-$400, and that was 8-9 years ago. Those guns now are worth what a Garand is, upwards of $1000 for a "decent" rifle. I love the gun. If I remember right mine shot a few inches high at 100 yards, but was on the money.
