| Heavy barrel or no heavy barrel
I recently purchased a Savage 111F and it has a light barrel. I prefer to precision shoot rather than just slinging lead 'til I hit something. What I want to do is upgrade my 111F with a heavy barrel to increase accuracy for those perfect shots. Does anyone have an idea where to go for a good heavy barrel. And what kind of money are we talking here. |

many companies make barrels that are pretty much a "drop in" for the savage. your looking at anywhere from $90 to as much as you care to spend. brownells, and midway usa are a couple of places to start your search for a barrel.

If you are going to do extensive shooting at the range or target practice look into fluted barrels. They shed heat much better due to more exposed surface. Also basically stainless will last about half again as long. samuel.
