Wards Western Rifle .22LR

I am trying to find out about this thing and see if it is worth anything. I think it said either Wards Western or Western Wards. The gun shop has it tagged Mossberg. I dunno anything about it and thought it might be a cool little thing to plink with for the price of 80 bucks. Anyone know anything about these? Any info is appreciated.

Many gun companies sold their rifles under "store brand" names - Wards 'Western Field' and 'Revelation', Western Auto, Sears/J. C. Higgins, etc.
Your rifle most likely is a Mossberg, and we could ID the specific model if you show a pic of it.
I have a Mossberg M640KD (.22WMR) marked as a Revelation.
Value will be fairly low, as collectors ignore the store brands. Gives us some good deals, as they are just as good guns as their 'official' sisters. $80 is probably about right.

Thanks alot for the info. I have been looking for something in .22 cal. just to plink at some targets with. Maybe this is the one for me. I like the .22 cause it's quiet and cheap to shoot. I will have to inspect the barrel and see if it has alot of wear. My guess is that it does not. The stock is in perfect condition on it and bluing shows alittle wear but no pitting on the surfaces of the rifle.

If it's like the Mossbergs I have seen, the bore is likely mirror bright once cleaned. Mossies just don't seem to wear out!
One of mine was left for years under a trailer! It was a crusty rusty relic! I bought it from a kid who needed money - figured I could use the stock for something. Then I started cleaning it for giggles - it cleaned up NICE!
Once I refinished it, it looked near new. It's now my main squirrel rifle.

My Mossbergs . . . does yours resemble any of them?
Top: Model 34 singleshot
Second: M152 Semiauto carbine
Third: M41M bolt-action manlicher-style stock
Fourth: M146b bolt-action - The once-rusty relic!
Last: M640KD bolt-action in .22 Magnum
