| Senior Member | Well I own a bunch of .223 but I would say a 22-250 loaded with those Nosler Partitions 60 grain would be tough to beat with the extra fps the 22-250 could give them. ![]()

| Senior Member | given identical bullet weights, the 22-250 launches the bullet faster. this gives more energy to the bullet. 22 caliber bullets dont really possess "knock down power", but the bullet fired from a 22-250 will get their ever so slightly quicker. 22 caliber cartridges are not powerhouses, they are however effective varmint killers. now if you give the 223 a premium varmint bullet, and the 22-250 a run of the mill SP/HP, the 223 will deliver much more spectacular results. |

| Senior Member ![]() | Up close and personal is rewarding too. Ruger Blackhawk .357 back up side arm while deer hunting. Yotes are funny, they can be hard to kill on the spot, this is the most rewarding scenerio. They will typicall DIE with a round delivered to the vitals. You just might not find the carcass. Look closely & you can see an exit wound and a little blood on the left ear. A .22LR would have done 'bout the same thing ![]() Your PIC rocks BTW Killer.

| Senior Member | I shoot 223 and my shootin buddy shoots 250, we shoot to about 250m and both are deadly on dogs, pigs, roos, goats and bunnies. 223 is much cheaper factory but only about $0.10 in it when reloading |
