H&R Buffalo Classic Recoil Pad ?

I just purchased an H&R Buffalo Classic 45/70. The curved butt plate looks like pure pain. What would be the easiest and best recoil pad that would drop recoil and still look good? Thanks.

Not sure about your recoil pad, but welcome to the forum. The limb-saver pads are very good. I think they make a grind to fit pad. I know you could get a grind to fit decelerator pad. Be sure to let us know how the rifle shoots. I have looked at those before - I like them. Always been curious about how they shoot.

For this type of gun, I like the lace-on pads. Here's a couple of links:
Browsing Store - Slip on Butt Pad-Medium Lace on type
LEATHER LACE-ON RECOIL PAD at Brownells

The best thing about these is that you can add more cushion to suit your taste and they don't alter the gun.

I appreciate the welcome to the forum and the suggestions that ya'll have posted. I'll soon post results of sighting in the rifle as I plan to shoot it Tuesday at the range. I mounted a Nikon variable 3x9x50 Buckmaster. Iron sights just don't cut it anymore. 58 year old eyes !

Sure you want to add the extra length on the butt?

How about a good shoulder pad device. For serious load development of the 30-06 (heavy bullets) at the range I just use a pad on the shoulder. After 50 rounds it gets kind of irritating and I'm testing for accuracy so I don't want to skew the results whimpering.

Did that rifle come with Williams reciever sights and Lyman inserts for the front post?

It did come with Lyman sights. I am going to install them on my son's 45/70. His is the shorter barrelled version that came with traditional iron sights.
