| I think you guys have brainwashed me!!!
Listening to you guys talk about how much you love your SKS and NRA JOE's HI-Point ive been thinking highly of getting a rifle instead of a new handgun so what would you guys say would be a better choice? Hi-Point 9mmCarbine or a SKS?

Well, I have both of them and the sks is my favorite of the two. It's just more solidly built than the highpoint. It's also easier to take down for cleaning. You need a wrench for the carbine. Though the carbine is still fun and cheap to shoot.

i personally am not a fan of either, but if forced to choose between the 2 it would be the sks. the hi point is pretty cheesy, and at least the sks uses a moderately powerful cartridge.

| tough call on that one, I have both and it would be hard to choose, like the Mosin because it is a big loud nasty little flamethrower, told my friends I went shooting with that is how russia beat germany, they would knock down 2 or 3 just from the concussion of 1 round and then run up and stick em witht the bayo, the sks is just fun to shoot, I have a 20 rd internal mag for mine so I get 20 rounds of semi auto fun, and to avoid the whole slam fire issue I out in the Ben Murphey fireing pin, as far as jams I have never had one or a stovepipe or any malfuntion at all, only a couple of misfires but it was a ammo issue, I compared the primer dimple to a spent round and they were the same. So in cunclusion, get em both, they are cheap but lots of fun. cant commint on the Hi-Point but it seems to get a lot of negative press, but then again so does Taurus and I have 3 of them, but that is a story for another day and thread.

for a fun plinker, the sks may be better than a mosin, but for a hunting rifle i would choose a 91/30 ( though even these arent the greatest hunting rifle).

Any hi-cap mags for a regular fixed mag SKS are junk. If you can find an SKS that came from the factory taking AK47 detachable clips...beleive they are SKS M and SKS D. Unfortunately there are no factory Hicap mags for the HiPoint and the aftermarket mags are junk!

Two different dogs bro...SKS you need stripper clips or load one by one unless you find an SKS made for detachable clips...if you can find one of those SKS... If not then the HiPoint THEN an SKS....

Nope just got it...was gonna go shoot it today but wound up selling some ammo/buying some ammo and going to Cabela's.... On the HiPoint forum no ones ever had a hiccup. I've had a Yugo SKS and a Chi-Com SKS...both shot fine but a pain to reload...a semi auto should reload faster!

Look at the fun stuff you can get for the HiPoint: http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/pis...roze-over.html (Hmmm, it MUST have froze over...) The HiPoints have been reputed to handle all 9mm with no problem...even WOLF steel case (which I have a crapload of)
