Lever Guard for Lever Actions

Hey Guys,

I recently decided I wanted to take my .30-.30 back to the basics, so I took my scope and sling off. I must say, I had forgotten how great of a rifle this is.

Anyway, I went to the range about a week ago, and I wanted to see how fast I could accurately get my 6 rounds out. What I noticed, after doing this a few times, is that the metal lever doesn't feel real good against the pinky finger/edge of hand when doing this quickly.

Does anyone know of a grip/wrap that goes around the portion of the lever that comes in contact with the hand on the lever cycle?

I understand this seems petty, but I've had some time for idle thought today, and this popped in my head.

Thanks, and Happy Thanksgiving,

Jeff

Hi guys,
I know exactly what you mean about the pinky finger gettin a good workout with rapid or repeated fire,
you could try a little of that padded tape u can get for handlebars on a bike, proboblyfrom bicycle stores and theres also some camo padded tape I have seen in archery suppliers.
Or you could improvise fairly well with many different tapes and padding combinations.
Good luck.
Regards.

Thanks guys. I will look into the loop, as well as the homeade pad/rope path. OZ and Damage, you guys were right on the money as far as what I was thinking about doing. I've made a couple paracord handles for my throwing knives, so the lever probably won't be a whole lot more difficult. I believe the owners of Henry .22/.410 survival rifles frequently do this to their forends.

Also, Home Depot sells this stuff called "Shur Grip" or something of a similar name. It's basically liquid rubber that you heat up, and dip tools into to make handles, insulated jaws for pliers, ect, and it dries into a nice solid rubber grip. I'll think it over and let you guys know how it turns out.

Farmer, do you know if that loop lever would interfere with a rifle scabbard?

Thanks guys

A lot of the guys over on the marlin owners forum wrap their levers with leather strips. I'll see if I can find a pic to post for you.

I've seen this before, as well. Looks pretty sharp when done right.

Hi,

The big loop might be a prob for a small scabard, but never did in the old westerns!!!!!!!!!

You know the type, John Wayne used to spin the rifle around to recock it whilst he was riding after the indians. Ive only ever seen 1 and it was a huge loop, all 4 fingers could turn around in it.

i nearly bought 1 last year, but did another project instead.

Pumpkin Iz jest trien to add a smidge of giggles to the thread.

I hope I never have to have an Inama and we've never owned one. LOL

But I did have an idear for hepping folks with bad backs one time and that wuz if'in you got down in yore back then take an inama bag and fill it with cold ice water, then Plug it up where it goes. Then have someone STOMP the bag with there foot real hard !!!
I figgered that COLD rush would cause the suffer'er to shoot up so straight that all them Disc and Vertoebrays would all line themselves up perfuck like...Dr A.H
