I need suggestions on affordable 7mm-08 rifle.

I'm looking for a good 7mm-08 Remington caliber hunting rifle in the range of $250-$400. Anyone have any suggestions?

Welcome to G&G tdizzle! With that price range, your best bet is going to be the pawn shops or gun shops that sell used guns.

Gun shops and classifeds are a great place to buy guns. The other thing you have going for you is this time of year is a great time to buy guns. Most hunting seasons are wraping up and people wanting money for christmas etc. 7mm 08 might be harder to find but i am sure .308 would be much easier and are very similar.

Some suggestions

1. Do you have a rifle that could be rebarreled to 7mm/08?
2. You might find a good used .308 for rebarreling.
3. Rossi single shots are good guns and you could scope it within your price range.
4. Marlin has the Harrington and Richardson line of single shots also affordable and could be scoped within your price range.
5. You might find an action from a gunsmith to which you could add the barrel and a stock. (I have done this).

Anyway, the 7mm/08 is a truly excellent round that is not given the respect it deserves.

Thanks for the advice! I've read reviews on the rifle and it sounds like a solid buy. I will be definitely be getting one.

I've also read that the Leupold VX-I scope would be a good inexpensive choice to go along with this rifle. After looking up the scope I found that there are many versions of the scope (2-7x33mm, 3-9x40mm, 3-9x50mm, and 4-12x40mm). What exactly are those measurements? Are the first two numbers the zoom and the last number the diameter of the golden ring end of the scope?

Thanks for the help!

Try gunbroker.com or auctionarms.com
They'll need to be shipped to an FFL (you can set that up with a local dealer) but most offer an inspection period in case of unseen damage or defects and you can find some pretty fair deals.

Yes. I put a 2-7x33mm on my 7mm-08, works great and looks pretty good, too.
