| Sears really did not manufacture rifles Sears contracted out to have their name put on various manufacturer's guns. They are copies with the Sears name. Ted Williams was a sports celebrity (baseball) whose name supposedly added value (or at least approval) to the gun. I'll be you have a post-64 Winchester. Check your gun against this design and I think it will be the same thing. |

| Super Moderator ![]() | It More than Likely is a pre-64...the serial Number, or if it has the long Mauser Type Extactor would tell me... FYI...ALL Sears Guns with a 273.XXXXXX type number were made for Sears By Winchester. All with a 101.XXXX number were Stevens/Savage /Springfield/Fox. All with a 103.XXXX number were Marlins. Rich

| J.C Higgins never made anything. It was a house brand Sears applied to all sorts of things. If you show me the J.C. Higgins factory, I'll show you my autograph from Charles Daly.......... |

| 273.1390 is listed as a winchester mn70 30-06 but others of it's era were called "new model 70". I would hypothesize it is the push feed, post '64 type. That's my 2 cents. |

| Bullet Maintenance !! ![]() | Where in the SAM HILL do you guys pull this from? It continues to amaze me! Even tho' I was the first 10 y/o in my town to completely disassemble a pre-64 30-06 down to one-piece items, I cannot regurgitate this stuff as fast as you guys do!

| "...Where in the SAM HILL do you guys pull this from?..." There's a 'Cross Reference' page on the Gunparts site. Doesn't cover absolutely everything, but it's close. Store Brand to Manufacturer Cross Reference | Numrich Gun Parts Corp. | e-GunParts.com |
