Savage 200

This is my new Savage 200 in .223! It shoots great, and thx to the ppl who helped me out. The pics are too big to put up here so I made a photobucket account. Check it out here Cauldra - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The scope is a Bushnell Sportsman 3-9x32mm.

Thanks for the follow-on pics...

Looks like you're set for some accurate, and potential long range, shooting.

Does your model of Savage come with the AccuTrigger?

If you put some bullets on paper, how about a follow-up post to let us know how it's working for you?

It doesn't have accutrigger, but it has practically no creep at all! I'll put up a pic of a target once I get a little better. I went to the range yesterday, it was SOOO cold, I was only able to shoot 30 rounds before my hands couldn't take the cold any longer, but I was able to get every round on paper. The spread was about 5" or so.

Same cold/winter weather conditions here, a real wrench in the gears for my regular target shooting...

Too bad we don't have a close-by indoor range.

5" spread, for just starting out with a new rifle, in very cold weather, is a good start.

I look forward to seeing pics of the targets...

I've been wondering about the Savage AccuTrigger, and if they're really all the marketing strategy has them made out to be...

Good goi'n. You should like the gun plenty. I'm thinking of trading/selling mine. My Wife got me the Handi Rifle in 223. I really don't need two 223's I single load at the range as well. The only thing I can say I'm not real thrilled with is the weight, it's pretty light. Good for carrying all day but I like the bull barrel on the handi better. I also let my friend talk me into a scope decision I don't care for. Too much scope for gun 6x18 I'll stay with the 3x9's

Heres my Stevens. I agree with Lefty on the accutrigger being overrated. This Stevens has the old style Savage trigger before accu. It's not a bad trigger at all. It's not my 700 trigger but not bad.

the accutrigger is a flawed design. for people used to out of the box triggers, yes it is somewhat of an improvement. though a well tuned factory or aftermarket 2 or 3 lever trigger is far superior.

Ahem

YOU NO INSULT THE MIGHTY SAVAGE OR IT'S ACCU-TRIGGER!!!!!!

Now that that's out of the way,

Why do you think so? It's it's not as good as a custom tuned trigger, I'll give you that. But when I can get 1/2 MOA with Non-Match grade 308 out of my Savage 10FP with an Accu-trigger, off a bipod...

One last thing - Savage isn't a thing of beauty, the bolt isn't butter smooth, the stocks aren't very ergonomic, but they are so reliable and accurate, that I would trust my life to them. Savage is a tool, not a work of art. They are the Ford Trucks in a land of Ferrari's.

utah, yes the rifles are accurate, but that has little to do with the trigger. the craputrigger is junk, and savage hypes as the greatest trigger ever put on a rifle. the craputrigger is cheap and easy to produce, and people that dont know better think its a good trigger, and that pretty well sums it up.

If it works, it works. Have you even had any experience with it? So far I don't understand your hatred of them besides the fact that the company has a lot of PR for them. It's not as good as a match trigger, obviously, but it is definitely better than the stock triggers I've fired.

No, I did it after reading the manual. As far as I remember, you turn the 2nd stage screw to adjust poundage.

Got to agree with Utah, the accu-trigger and Savage are fine hunting rifles right out of the box.
