| Senior Member | Removing front sight ramp? HOW
I was given a old rifle in great shape with the exception that the front sight is dinged up and the actual sight will not stay in the dove-tail. What I want to do is remove the entire base. There are no set screws or pins and before i go beating it with a hammer I would like to know if anyone knows how to take it off. The rifle is a austrian globe .308, and there is no known information on the net. Any help would be great.

If there isn't a screw in the ramp or under the sight itself, it's either soldered or glued on. You'll probably have to use a small torch and heat the sight base until it falls off.
