My friend bought a new Henry lever action .22 for $229.00 and he loves it. The action is very smooth and it is very accurate.

whoops, deleted my post on accident. Put me down in the Marlin or Ruger camp as well. Both are accurate to 100 yards (typically) completely stock. There are a million Rugers out there though, so wait for a deal on that. hard to go wrong with either of those rifles.

Well considering it has a longer barrel and is a bolt, I'd say so. I have the 10/22 and haven't had many problems with it. On occasion it will want to jam with Remington ammo. Don't know why, but it does. It jams more with Remington subsonic than normal. Even with that though, it works the majority of the time. As for accuracy, I was just resighting in my scope today(took it off the try another but ended up putting the same back on) and I was easily hitting a 3 sqin piece of cement block at 100 yards once I got the elivation down(it was sighted for 50 yards). I should also mention that I use a $25 scope and federal ammo. Nothing fancy whatsoever. Put a good aftermarker barrel on and use high quality ammo, and you can get 1 inch at 100. Anyway this thread was originally about reliablity. As far as semi-autos go I think Ruger 10/22 is really good. Use good mags and you can't go wrong. A lot of aftermarket high cap mags are junk. Butler Creek steel lips are the best I've seen.

I have never met anyone that has owned a Henry lever action 22 and not loved it. Reliable is an understatement and shoots like a dream!
