Exclamation finally found a gun. i dont want!?!

i was watching a guy playing around with a railgun today.
it didnt look like fun to me.
i would rather build one in a machine shop than shoot the finished product.
guns that you cannot even concievably pick up and shoot something to eat with dont work for me.
so i didnt think it was possible but i dont want a gun.

A rail gun is not for hunting.

When the space aliens attack, you'll wish you had one.

A railgun launches projectiles using magnets instead of powder.

The Navy says they can get a 300 mile range from their railgun.

Rail guns use electromagnetic forces in a series of turned on and off switches to propel an object in a sabot down range.

There are also barell-less rail guns. The projectile is given a trajectory and spin by electromagnetic rails on either side of it. The electromagnetic forces make it spin and propell it forward. This removes the speed drain on a bullet caused by rifling in a barrel.

Dont forget railguns firing from outerspace. floating around like satelites. Zeroair=zero resistance. yeah baby lets use a projectile the size of a buss at mach 8 and lets just end it.

Well outer space isn't truly a complete vacuum and while there would be little effect due to friction upon any projectile fired by any means there would be some as well as gravitational and solar forces exerted upon the projectile affecting both it's range and trajectory.

those rail guns are to see how well you can turn 100 pieces of brass into
4 or 5 really good ones, then make them all do exactly the same thing.
by spending three days reloading those 4-5 cases.
