Can you feel you heart beat on the trigger?

I remember the 1st time this happened to me and I didn't know what it was. I realized I had to shoot between the pulsing sensation on my finger or it would throw my shot off.

Doesn't happen all the time...only when I'm really calm and concentrate.

I usually only notice it when I'm really concentrating hard. Oddly enough, it doesn't affect me at all when hunting.

Interesting I figured everybody could feel there heart beatting through there trigger finger.
I some times try to pull the trigger between beats .

I think we'll find not the case. I put a 10 day limit on the poll. I'm predicting 25% feel their heart beat on the trigger.

I'm sure snipers feel it and shoot between heartbeats. Sounds weird doesn't it. When I told a non gun owner at work he scoffed at me. "That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard."

I've never noticed it. I've also never paid any attention to it. Too focused on other areas of shooting I guess.

If I could live my life over I've always wondered when I was young and enlisted if I could have pursued a sniper career? Probably not...my hat is off to you true snipers that did make the cut in the military.

Can you imagine a military career where most of it is just spend on the range shooting and keeping the "edge" sharp.

When I was in junior high school and had those kids sit next to me that could draw so well I felt stupid. All I could do was shoot gophers at long distances with a .22 and out of a moving pickup truck at night when we would chase down jack rabbits in our fresh mowed hay fields.

My shootin skills might have "found out" in the military but I chose the Air Force and the recruiter talked me out of wanting to be a tail gunner in the B52's. You don't handle many weapons as a radar repair man I found out.

Crap...it would have been fun.

If you think all Scout Snipers do is go to the range and shoot you really dont know much about them.Most of their time is spent in physical fitness,learning to be alert,how to get in and get out,etc,etc.The range is the R&R area.These are SO,s,not an easy life. sam.

The pulse we feel is like how when you have been in the stand for too many hours, freezing cold, numb, wiggling toes to have feeling, then you hear a twig snap....Instantly, you become warm all over. Your hunt starts all over, warm and fuzzy. Toe's all right, warrrm. Like watching your retical do it's circle dance, waiting for your target to line up in your circle. Target come home for my greeting. Welcome to my world. Priceless.

Too much excitement it sounds like..You need to be calm and concentrated when you shoot in order to hold tight groups...

Since I've gotten old, everytime I get behind one of my rifles to target practice, my heart beat can throw me way off. 100 yard shots I can keep them in a 1 1/4 group but it really throws me off at 150 to 200 yards. I'm 65 and smoked for too many years, and that has taken its toll.

I don't feel it in the trigger finger, but certainly DO where the rifle sits in my shoulder pocket! With the milsurps, it's not so bad. With a .22 match rifle shooting the wee groups at 100 yards - it can really make a difference!
The beat can put the group off by many inches! I'm working on breathing and trying to 'shoot between the beats' as the match shooters do.
I'm not a competition shooter - but I do try to raise my 'bar' when shooting the better guns. That means learning and applying those same techniques.

I do and I shoot on the off beat or down beat or when the shot comes to me. Please someone help translate for me....Its a rhythm thing kinda musical. Know whut I mean Vern?

I've never noticed it. I always take slow deep breaths and slowly squeeze the trigger, and I am very calm when doing so usually. I will see if I can feel it next time I go shoot.
