| Stag!!!!!! Stag is made by CMT who is one of the main suppliers of replacement parts for Military guns. Bushmaster is a little bit more expensive, but also a military contractor. |

| Utahvarminter, I believe it's the other way around, Stag makes there own now, and has for a few years, and they are the maker and supplier of many AR parts. And my vote is and would be for Stag Arms.

| You'll need a little bit more money to buy a Bushmaster M-4 version. I gave 875 for one and that was 20 dollars over cost Here...A.H |

| There is no "best." No one can tell you what is best unless he has shot multiple examples of each. People will say theirs is best to justify what they bought. There is so much competition in the AR world that you pretty much get what you pay for. A low end rifle will go bang. A better rifle will have a good trigger and a good barrel, and may be more accurate and reliable. I have owned two. The first was a Colt Match HBAR and it was a piece of crap. I long ago lost all patience with inaccurate rifles, and this was one. A state-champion shooter in my club suggested I buy a Rock River. After shooting his, I did, and I love it. I do well in matches with it. While I was in the military, I shot a lot of M16s. Most were Colts. Some were accurate, some were not, and you could not tell which was which by looking at them. Go for a good barrel and a good trigger, and the rest of the rifle will not disappoint you. Buy what the winners use. If you can't afford the best, save your pennies until you can. That will be more satisfying in the long run. If all you want to do is make noise, buy an AK. Just don't expect to hit anything. |

| I was thinking the same thing... ...and I'm sure there are a lot of dead soldiers that would argue (if they could) that AK's hit things mighty well.

| Every bullet hits something. You need 1 MOA or close to it to win matches. My only criterion for a rifle is accuracy. I suppose you could build a 1 MOA AK. I've never seen one. |

| I believe my AES-10 to be one... Once I get it modded-out, I'll get more pics up and test it @ 100 yds.

| What is the value of cheap misses? The question was, "What do you all think is the best AR for the price?" The question was not, "What is the absolutely cheapest AR I can find?" I assumed the questioner wanted some level of performance, not just something that goes bang. I could be wrong. Last edited by rfc357; 03-20-2008 at 08:38 AM. |
