.270 and 7mm WSM

I was looking at the recoil and ballistics of these cartridges and I think I ''need'' 1. It appears that the .270 is selling better but, how are these cartridges selling? And which 1 is doing better?

I would go with the 270 WSM, it is far more common, and it appears to be sticking around.

Midas is right. I have a 7mm WSM, and if I didn't reload for it, I would be fairly limited in my factory ammo selection. Go with the 270 WSM.

I'm fixin' to buy one...and it'll be the 270WSM. Of course, this could be because I already own a 7mmRSAUM, but what the hey. It's a very good, flat shooting number and the rifle is pretty neat as well. Good luck!

I would prefer the 7mm WSM because of the heavier bullets which I think makes it suitable for Brown bear but I heard some Idiots went to Australia and took Water Buffalo with the .270 WSM so there is no doubting it's ability in spite of the lighter bullets so I might look in to it.

The 270 WSM is the safest way to go at this point. I agree with Midas and Lng Rng on this.

Lets add the .300 and .325 WSM to the equation, they both offer more punch and we know the .300 sells but, about how much kick does a .300 WSM have and how much kick does the .325 WSM have?

And how is the .325 doing for sales?

The problem with the 7mm is heavy bullets must be seated deep and take up powder capacity forcing you to use faster burning powders. The freebore can be lengthened as I did but this leaves lighter (deer type)bullets a long ways from the riflings. sam.

True, never thought about that.

I have a .325WSM and a .300SAUM, and I really don't see much difference between the two, recoil-wise. I like that the .325 has a factory loading that's 220gr should I desire a heavier bullet than what most .300s load. The loaded ammo is not inexpensive, but none is any more. I carried it a good bit this past season (A BLR) and not overly long even in a tree stand. A pretty nice platform for this caliber. If you go to a specialty loader, or reload yourself, there is a good number of 8mm bullets available for trying too. You can get bullets from 150gr to 280 gr for 8mm. Of course, I'm a fan of the 8x57 as well, and have 2 of them. It would be a good combo for a handloader with an 8x57 already.

If we are talking about weight of rifle, the BLR is likely lighter. It's a BLR and my .3oosaum is a Rem 673. Both are scoped, of course.
