Thumbs up My kids first kill

So I got my 5 year old boy his first bb gun yesterday. Just a Daisy bb gun from wallyworld. We went out in the woods behind our house and he got his first kill today. He was very excited about it, as was I. Good times, good times.

Tell him welcome to the varmint hunting world.Looks like quite a little man. That BB gun is better than mine.Varmint hunters don't eat all varmints. We kill some because they do damage. That one could have chewed a hole in your house.Good shooting. sam.

Is that a song bird? I'm all for teaching to hunt and shoot from a young age, but I'm not sure if teaching to shoot whatever moves is a good thing.

Im no bird expert, so I have no idea. I just told him not to shoot red birds, blue birds, scissor tails, and woodpeckers which is mostly all we seen today. So if I were teaching him to shoot anything that moves I would have a pile of all the birds listed above, and a lot of hurt cats and dogs.

thats a good idea. i havent seen any grasshoppers out yet, but there are usually some pretty big ones around here. and theres a lot of those big black and yellow garden spiders with the zigzag down the middle of the web. man i hate those freakin things. i know they're not poisonous but id probably die of a heart attack if one ever got on me. haha.

That bird appears to be an English Sparrow, and you can shoot them. I know when I was his age I did, and had just as much chasing them around as anything. I will be willing to bet he uses that thing every day he can, and will be a great training device.

Nice shot wish I could say dont shoot something you wont eat but then I would be a hypocrit. After all my BFF and I killed everything we could with our peelet rifles growing up. Now its funny we wont shoot anything because it makes us feel bad lol. He is saving up for a 50 cal rifle and I think I might have to dust a pariedog with that.

Nice shot: I think that's great. Memories like that will last forever. There is not anyone on here that has never shot a bird or some varmint that they did not eat so don't pay them any mind. Welcome him to the world of varmint hunting. You need to get him some Camo.
