| .338 ammo
Can you load .338 non magnum rounds such as the federal premiums that came out a few years ago, into a remington model 700 .338 mag chamber?

Not if you want to keep you and the rifle intact. .338 Win Mag rifles shoot .338 Win Mag ammo and nothing else.

| There is a new .338 Federal that came out about 2 yrs ago and may well be loaded as Federal Prmium ammo. But, you can NOT fire that in a .338 Win mag rifle. The catridge itself is much smaller. The .338 Fed is based on a .308 necked up to .338 where the .338 Win mag is based on a much longer case similar to a .300Win mag or 7mmRem mag. I'm not sure if that's exactly what you were asking, but the .338 Fed is not the same round, nor a round that can be fired in a .338 Win mag. That being said, if you were asking if a .338 Fed COULD be loaded into the chamber of a .338 Win mag, the answer would be yes, but it is unwise to even place it in the chamber and could be downright catastrophic should it somehow happen to fire in there. |

You can make reduced loads for the 338 WM, but you still have to use the 338 WM case, and proper bullets.
