Remington 700 VTR thoughts

Has anyone used this rifle.? I have read about it and it sounds pretty good, especially for the price. Only thing I am a little concerned about is the stock. It is synthetic, but I have heard that it seems like a hollow plastic stock. Sounds pretty cheap to me. Everything else sounds pretty good..I know that the stock can be changed, but that kinda defeats the purpose of buying an inexpensive rifle.
If anyone has shot, or at least held this rifle I'd like some input about that stock. Local shop does not have one in stock for me to look at.
