You will need a cleaning rod, patches, bronze brushes, and bore solvent (I like to use Hoppe's # 9). After you shoot, put a .30 cal brush onto your rod, and squirt some bore solvent onto it, run it through the barrel 8-10 times. Next, ( you will need a plastic jag for this, which is included in most of the basic cleaning kits) place a patch on the jag, and squirt some bore solvent onto it, run 3-5 patches through the bore, only put solvent on the first couple of patches. repeat these processes until the bore is clean. But if you really wanna be lazy, buy some foaming bore cleaner, you just squirt it into the barrel, and wait a couple of hours, it works very well, I have found.

Just go Buy a Bore Snake and some Hoppes No.9 solvent and a small can of gun oil...Put a little solvent just ahead of the brush woven into the boresnake,
and a few drops of oil behind the brush about 6 inches...One pull through the barrel...Done ! Cleaned, oiled and Patched...
