| I own a Remington 742 in 30-06 caliber that I can't ever remember it Jamming. I got this rifle 39 to 40 years ago and still use it as a back up. It use to be my only center fire for those many years ^^^. With that said I have a Remington SpeedMaster 22 rim fire that loves to Jam when you use Remington bulk ammo. Other wise it operates fine with other brands. None of the 2 semi auto shotguns have ever Jammed which are a Remington model 1100 3" Magnum and a Mossberg 930 turkey shotgun. In fairness to your question the model 1100 hasn't been shot I guess over 20 times since it was bought new in the middle of the 70's. The Mossberg 930 has been used Dove hunting and squirrel hunting this past year only, No jams so far. It was bought this past July. I have had my 2 870 pumps Jam a time or two due to user's haste LOL...A.H Last edited by ArkansasHunter; 06-20-2008 at 12:04 AM. |

| I did a test years ago with a ruger 40 cal. P94 stainless. I hadn't ever seen it jam and it made me curious. I decided not to clean it until it jammed. I would shoot a 100 rounds or so and carry it. I don't remember the exact count but it was 900 and something before it jammed. I opened the slide and ram my finger over the feed ramp. I loaded the clip and it fired problem free for the rest of the box of ammo. I got home and took it apart to clean it, it was nasty inside. I have had quite a few jam on me for a lot of different reasons. From what I've seen if you keep them clean and buy a quality firearm jams are far and few in between. Of course theres always the exception.

| I suppose you're right, they can all jam or malfunction. But the reasons can be many different ones? It could be from the ammo being used? The fact it wasn't cleaned the last time it was used, or not cleaned good enough? It could be operator error maybe? Say the operator had a loose grip and thus caused a stove piped round or case or something? A part could be worn or broken. So yea, I guess at some point any weapon can jam or malfunction. But anytime you have something with multiple moving parts, and those parts need to work together, the odds are good something might, can and/or will happen...

| I've never had my SAR-1 jam, or my SKS. I wish I could say that for my WASR, 10/22's, AR, and Remington .22.

| My M1 Garand has never once jammed on me. Not a once. I've put just over 1,000 rounds through it, all told, too, so that's saying something. My old Mosin Nagant has jammed quite a few times, though, and not from improper use. That's a bolt action, considered one of the most reliable made in a looong time. |

| Yes,all semi's mal-function sooner or later. So do slide actions, breakopen,s rolling block sideby,s,levers, etc, etc. It seems no one knows how to build the perfect, fail safe firearm.Maybe that is why I keep buying another one, looking for that one gun that wont fail. sam. |

| Yes, it is a machine, and ALL machines can fail. Some are just more reliable than others. Keep it clean and properly lubed, use good ammo, and you minimse the chance of failure. Also, the magazine is the heart of any repeater - sometimes a faulty magazine is blamed on the gun. Many are made flimsy.

| I had a Winchester M-1400, never jammed, and it went through some tough situations..My Winchester M-290 .22 hasn't jammed since day one, back in 1971, except for one time, several months ago, when I used Remington Thunderduds through it. What junk... |

| Well, . . . . if you have a higher quality gun, keep it clean and properly lubricated, and fire clean ammo properly matched in power to the specs which the rifle is meant to fire only worn our rifle parts or damaged magazines should cause a jam. However, we live in the real world where those things do happen. |

| I've owned over a dozen autoloaders over the years, all jammed occasionally for various reasons except for two. With at least 3,000 rounds or better through each, my Ruger Mini-14 and Taurus PT-92 never jammed, ever, with any factory round or handload I put through them. (I also had a little Taurus pocket .22 that never jammed, but I didn't shoot it all that much, less than 500 rounds.) By contrast, I've owned 4 Colt Government Model .45's, all would occasionally have a failure to feed, usually I could blame it on my handloads, a few times with factory ammo. Old reliable indeed. | All of my Semi-Autos have jammed except my SKS and my S&W M&P-9mm. Most of the other jamings were related to magazine issues or ammo. If the gun jams because of something else, then I will more than likely sell it. |

| Killer, its the nature of the beast. I have a glock 22 that I've had since the first shipment came in from Austria. It was a demo gun for a year before I got it from my toy store. The only stoppages I've had with it were due to my crappy reloads (test loads) or bad magazines, usually the followers broke. I'd hade to think what the cops that dem'd the piece did to it. It's got to have close to 200,000 rnds through it by now. It doesn't have the accy rail and if it gets shot a lot, the dust cover droops and the piece reminds me of a dogs head profile ;-) But all in all, I've had very few problems. The only semis that were head aches was a springfield 1911SS the extractor channel was an rch under size, but once fixed it hasn't missed a beat, the other was a S&W mod41, finicky with ammo and shooting 22LR it got dirty quick...got tired of it jammin while shooting in a match, got rid of it for a MKII which hasn't missed a beat

| It's kinda like never having a flat or a dead battery. Anything can jam or fail. I just got new glasses and had to go back and get'm adjusted.

| Almost all jams Ive heard about (or seen) were from using inferior (too weak, especially in the case of rimfires) ammo, or from not cleaning. Use good ammo and keep it reasonably clean (even if just spraying some WD40 or other solvent through it) and most will do you just fine. |
