Flip open scope caps

Is it possible to put those butler creak flip open caps on a scope with an adjustable objective? It seems like something would be thrown off or become loose or uneven because of the raised grip that is designed to help you focus the objective

do yourself a favor and toss the caps in the can.....i've found them to be useless in a hunting environment. stick with the original caps that came with the scope and simply take them off when you use the rifle then put'em back on after.better yet buy a scope with hydroscopic coatings.

We don't buy 'em for usefulness, silly! We buy 'em for the "tacticool factor"!

DOH KAY!!! i shoulda thought that thru better then. yes ....by all means load your gun down with a pair of those, a bipod, one of those cool shell holders that let the bullets drop out, and dont forget the 12 volt light (the one that looks like you got a car battery and a car headlight duct taped to your scope)

The flip-ups are handy if you lost/don't have anything else to protect your scope with.

Better than nothing.

i only speak from experience guys. had a nice buck less than 50 yards , layed my cheek against the stock. flipped them open....the deer not only heard the tiny lil pop they make , the cover on the ocular lens smacked my glasses( yes...i know...my fault for being to close, but i was trying to keep him in sight in a thicket and hugged up a lil to close). i lucked up and still took him but i don't care to have tiny little bugaboos happening at the wrong moment.yes....if you have no other cover then i'd prolly go with some but if theres only one thing i've learned about hunting is that if it can go wrong it usually will. i perfer to cut down or minimalize those things that can

i get laughed at lots for bein practical....like when the DNR ranger asked me why i had tampons in my fanny pack. ( use your imagination at will fellas)

I have seen them used and thought they were great for someone else.I just never liked them.I've seen them used on a front adjustment scope. They worked altho they opened at odd angles.I don't know how they had them set up.Definitly good in some cases. ,,,sam.

I've had them on my 7 Mag for years, without a hitch. Great for protection, and you can open them silently with a little practice.

well guys the rifle wont be for hunting as here in northern indiana we can ony use shotguns and muzzleloaders and handguns.
I dont care about the noise as its for a mosin nagant and im just target shooting with it.
i got the scope used and it didnt come with any caps or screw on covers. so im just wondering if the flip open caps will fit on the objective end of the scope.
i like the caps as they are quick and easy unlike the screw on ones or the bikini caps
yes i know the screw ons or bikini caps arent that bad but they arent as quick and easy as the flip open caps

geez, so much cunfuzion over flip caps.

lets start with hunting.
when hunting in the rain or snow and you get a shot at a fantastic trophy, flip caps are going to give you a few seconds with a perfectly clear, clean scope. some caps are see thru, and/or polarized, and/or tinted. yellow enhances low light and helps break out shadows.

Target shooting.
helps keep lenses clean between shooting strings. for a right handed shooter, try rotating rear cap to 3 o'clock position. (help clear bill of hat for one and acts as a sun blocker if needed) Polar caps are nice on bright sunny days. can be adjusted to help reduce glare and are very useful with low sun angles on controling adverse light.

I bought some but after trying them...didn`t like them. Now sitting on the shelf in my closet.
Main reason was if there is any stress on the cap itself, the flip up lid won`t stay closed. At least mine will not. Went back to my original, rubber caps connected by rubber straps. Just need them for weather protection anyway. Works for me.

I thought they would be handy and found there not. If you have a varible scope it throws the lever out of alignment if you have to increase the magnification to see if a Buck is legal.
In Arkansas we have a 3 point rule so in order to see if the Buck is legal I crank up my scope to check. The cover when opened will hit the reciever or stock preventing much magnification.
I don't use them anymore...A.H

Of course, I'm not a hunter, I just shoot targets and water jugs.

Nawp, even then some of us would still be contrary, just to be contrary

If it's a nice day, once I get up in the treestand or find myself a good spot, I flip the caps up THEN.

If it's questionable weather, I put a finger on the lens to EASE the cap off instead of letting it POP and spook a deer.

I've bowhunted enough to know that you want to avoid all noise possible...or you hear...SNORT!!! and off they go and you see a white tail giving you the finger.
