| Gun safety check
Well I went out to the desert today and finally shot my .45 Winchester lever action and Ruger 10/22. Based on my performance, I'd say the bad guys, varmints and game are perfectly safe. Whoever said guns were dangerous has clearly never seen me shoot. LOL The good news is I'll be saving a lot of money re-using targets. Who knew they'd last so long. Don't feel bad I went out to check the zero on 2 of my Deer rifles and all I'll say is I'll get meat...may be.

I feel the same sometimes, especially if I have a dry spell (which seems to be happening more frequently) it takes me some time to get my groove back. About the only thing that doesn't get rusty for me is shooting my Mausers, but then they are too expensive to feed!

LOL The Winchester and Ruger are both new to me from a recent gun show and obviously need to be sighted in. I'll need to find a buddy with a bench that can help me. They seemed to shoot consistently enough...just not where I was pointing. I was pleasantly surprized with the really light recoil of the Winchester 45LC lever action...really a pleasure to shoot. The first problem was that you were using a Ruger 10/22...should give you about 2.5"-3" groups at 25 yards. Ain't quite minute of squirrel. But yeah, taking the time to bench-sight 'em in would help  Winchester's aren't famous for their precision either...it's part of the reason they went out of business since Marlin made more precise lever-action rifles since the 1940's. Check the winner's circle at any SASS meet Won't find many Winchesters...but you will find Marlins. Even Mossberg makes a better lever-action than Winchester ever could.There are things you can do to help both be more precise...I'd stick to the inexpensive/free mods because it can get expensive real fast. You can EASILY spend $800+ on trying to bring a Ruger up to snuff...but it'll never be worth what you put in it. Kind of like Putting a Turbo-charger in a Yugo. Check the Winchester forums & Ruger forums here, & proprietary websites (RimFireCentral (Ruger)) (Winchester Owners)...that sort of thing.
