don't worry so much about that, it's only illegal if you actually put a 11+rd mag in it before you convert the rest of the weapon.
I like the sound of customizing the fit. I would also like to bevel the mag well to it guides the mag in better. . . hmmm.. . .

Just got two single stack mags from Centerfire Systems, Inc. - Your Home For Ammo, Firearms, Magazines, and Gun Accessories. Identified as WASR10 surplus. Fits Zastava PAP.
$12.99 each at AK-47 10rd Single Stack Black Magazine
Plastic mags from EAA are crappy and cost $45.
5 round single stack WASR10 mags are available from gunboker and other web sites.
EAA does not answer e-mails and it takes two days for them to call you back.
Any cleaning rod for standard 16" barrels will fit. The one I got is 15 3/4". Had to take the handguard off to push it in place. Looks a lot better.
Silver Bear ammo looks good enough for photo shoot.
Advanced Technology (ATI) SKS/AK Rifle Sling is a perfect fit.

So these are imported single stack?
I agree with Moose that it is nice to see some new imports aside from Saiga's.
If I see one of these out and about I may have to pick one up.
Post a range report when you can OP

Mine appears to be sturdy, not really sure if it will remain sturdy after couple hundred rounds and multiple removals.

I ordered one magazine from Centerfire systems like you said and it was a perfect fit. Also they sent a cleaning kit for it for free. Thanks a lot Bro!

Post a range report when you can OP | All I can say is awesome. I used Silver Bear ammo and shot at 100 yards. Grouping was about three inches with open sights standing and about 1 1/2 inches sitting and using a rest. I was very happy. Shot about 60 rounds through it and not one problem. Every round feed perfect. I shot a Romanian AK about 2 months ago, but I thought this Zastava shot a lot better.

Texas does not have a restriction on how many rounds you can have in your rifle while hunting. So, unless you just want a smaller mag to avoid catching it on stuff, you don't need to worry about finding a five-rounder. If you still want a short, five-rounder, Military Gun Supply in Ft. Worth always has a couple of single stack fivers on their shelf.

Too bad Zastava removed side rail from PAP. I'm thinking about 4x compact scope and not sure if receiver cover is stable enough to retain zero.
Do you know if there are any 15 round single stack mags available? Here in NJ 15 is the legal maximum.

Not sure if thats true I will have to research it I guess. Thanks

Thanks | Even in a National Recreation Area, the firearms laws are dictated by the state you are in. There are no legal rifle capacity limits in Texas... period. The Lake Meridith website even links to the Texas Penal Code to answer and questions about what costitues a legal firearm. While there are no capacity limits for rifles, shotguns are restricted to no more than 3 shells for some species.
From TX Parks and Wildlife: ( Link) | Magazine Capacity (number of shells/cartridges allowed): There are no restrictions on the number of shells or cartridges a legal firearm may hold when hunting game animals or game birds (except migratory game birds, see Legal Shotgun). |
All that being said, many LEOs don't actually know the law they are paid to enforce. They simply shoot from the hip (hopefully figuratively) and then let the local judge sort out their ham-handed actions. When it comes to gun laws, this goes double. Never ask a cop about legal issues, they are rarely any more informed than you are.

Just bought this as my first gun ever, excited to get it shipped to me next week.
Couple questions: towards the tip of the under side of the barrel, is that a bayonet lug or strap mount spot?
Is the inside of the barrel threaded to accept a flash supressor?
If both yes than I've got one to sell because it's not legal in NJ
I'm really hoping it is because I'm excited to get it.
Also does anyone know what quad rail system fits? And can you provide a link to one please.

No bayonet lug. This gun has been "Clintonized" to conform to the now non-applicable Assault Weapons Ban. That's also why it accepts only low-capacity, single-stack mags and has a thumbhole (read "no pistol grip) stock. The bump you see at the front of the rifle is to hold the tip of the cleaning rod (which appears not to be included, but you can get them pretty easily).
Threads for a flash suppressor would be on the outside, never the inside of the barrel. Along with the other AWB conforming features, this rifle will either have no barrel threads, or will have a cap welded in place over the threads.
You should be fine with this rifle in NJ, as long as you don't do anything to un-neuter it. I really feel for you guys who have to jump through such hoops to stay "legal" while excercising your Constitutional rights.
As for the quad-rail. I'd go with a UTG rail for this rifle. They're cheap (about $70) and surprisingly well built.
