| Senior Member ![]() | Anchorage Man kills Intruder... An Anchorage,Alaska family was awakened to the sounds of an intruder inside their 2 story house. The Father grabbed his Glock .40 cal and opened his bedroom door and started downstairs when he came face to face with a 275 lb. Black Bear coming up the stairs at him. He emptied the Magazine into the Bear and retreated to the Bedroom while his wife called 911. When the Police arrived they found the Bear dead in the lower bathroom in a pool of blood and Poop. It had come through a rear door that had a broken latch, and it had 10 bullet holes in it.Wildlife Officials said that the Bear had been captured and Tagged 2 years ago and had weighed only 140 lbs. at the time and that the Hide would be salvaged and sold at the Fur Rendevous Auction next winter. The Homeowner was well within his rights to protect his Home and Family and No charges were even Mentioned! Glock-1 Bear-0. Rich

| Bear in Alaska almost parallels my story from Saturday. My wife let the dogs out Friday night and they went after something in their out building. Saturday she went out ther and found a racoon under some stuff. She grabbed her 30/30 and went back. She was not able to get a clear shot on it so I went back out with my Glock 23 and capped it with a practice round in the head. These were plated lead bullets cruising at 750fps. Just the thing for close range shooting down at a coon on a concrete floor. When we drug it outside she shot it in the heart with her Glock 19. We threw it out over the hill to attract other varmints. No worries about Bear but there are lots of coyotes and we have heard about but not seen big cats. |

| Several years back we were at our private range shooting handguns when a big woodchuck came out right in our line of fire. I figured he was sick or deaf to come toward gun fire so I dispatched him with one shot from my s&w 645. I never trust an animal thats not afraid of me. |

| Talk about a wakeup call. And with a .40 cal. I would feel sure that not all of the poop on the stairs would belong to the bear.

| Another fine example of lead posioning occurring in the home, and after all this time you would think people would get the picture of just how toxic lead can be! (Especially lead tripping along at 900+FPS)
