Orange Glock Magazine

In the early 90's when I obtained my first Glock 17 I bought at the same time an ORANGE magazine for it. I saw it in the case and the dealer didn't know what it was for just that it came in a shipment and it was for sale. I liked the way it looked so I bought it as it was the same price as a regular magazine. I have been told it was for training purposes but this mag WORKS you can load it and it functions flawlessly. One day when I went to the range I accidently shot my expensive cor-bon ammo from that day forward my defense loads for the house were kept in the orange magazine. I see now you can buy orange floor plate for the Glock magazines but have never seen this magazine any where else. Anybody know anything about this magazine? Is it rare? Should I put it underglass? A local dealer said that Glock never made these that somebody had to have made it up to function. The place I bought it wouldn't have had the first clue how to make it to do anything - this was a time when people who worked on Glocks were few and far between. Hope somebody has heard something

I'm not sure, but I was able to find this link to a pic of a couple of 'em. Doesn't say anything about the use. glock 23, .40 caliber magazines, including an orange magazine

Thats what mine looks like other than it is 9mm

In my opinion, the orange mag would be for use with simunition training rounds or less than leathal pepper rounds. Anthing orange for firearms indicates less than leathal usage. I wouldn't use the orange mag for live leathal rounds unless it was strick range use. Load, shoot to empty and never leave the mag unattended with live rounds loaded. Some one may assume that the orange mag is loaded with less than leathal rounds and end up shooting someone. I know you would have to be a idiot to do such a thing but if there is one thing this world doesn't lack it is idiots.

If you can get to this magazine you can get to my gun - nobody who has access would mistake anything -they know it is live ammo and it's the stuff that is for defense purposes so no mistake can be made unless you have the safe combination. But I still wonder how rare it is.

I have 2 of theses for my 17 they are labeled lik all my other glock mags which to me would indicate that glock made them. Bought them long ago when I went to the gunshow to get xtra mags have never seen any since.
