| First Glock!
Well as the title says, I recently got my first Glock. Glock 22 .40 cal. I am going to be attending a law enforcement academy starting in two weeks so i bought this to use through the academy. This is actually my first semi auto handgun of any kind. originally i didn't think i wanted a glock just based on appearance and not having a safety, but i thought it through and i think i made the right choice.

Congrats. I'm sure you won't regret your decision. Can't go wrong with a Glock.

sell33: Sir; congratulations on the 'academy'; Glock 22 is a better than good selection. Practice practice; and get some practice in before going to there ranges Good responsible work at the "Academy"

I hope you don't have to buy ammunition too. I have a 35: same thing with just a little more barrel. I use it in competition.

Thanks. unfortunately i do have to buy the ammo. which sucks. but they found us a deal somewhere so we can get a case of 1000 for 300 which i guess is reasonable.

Sell33 sorry you have to furnish your own gun and ammo. I've never heard of that happening. Matter of fact I don't like it one bit. If your becomeing an LEO and put your life on the line you should be recieveing better than that. Enjoy your new pistol and take care of it because it will take excellent care of you if needed...A.H

^Unfortunately lots of LE have to do this. When I was in the academy in East Camden, I was talking to one county deputy and he said his salary (full time road deputy) was around $17K. I believe he had to provide his own gun, but the academy provided the ammo.

Good choice! I've owned a number of Glocks over the years including the 23 and they've all been fine guns. I now have a 17 and I've used it for qualifying for 3 CHLs and renewals. I've just ordered an SL21.

Congratulations on being accepted to the police academy. I'm sure that your GLOCK 22 will help to make sure that you come home safely, every night! Practice, practice, practice.

Congrats on making it in the academy. I have a Glock 22 and it always goes boom when you pull the trigger.

My son is a LEO, he carries a G22 and loves it. That is the only service pistol that he will carry, and trust. Larry! |

I've had a 22 and a 23, then a 36. Now I have a 26. Once you've had a Glock and got rid of it, you won't be satisfied until you get another!

| Senior Member | Good luck! I spent about $700 just on leathers, flashlight and weapon light. Thank goodness they are issuing us our guns and ammo!

Anyone put an extended slide catch on their glock? the factory one isn't exactly the easiest to use so i am thinking about upgrading. any suggestions on where to order one of these? or if its even worth it?
