Pressure Chamber for Autoloader?

Reading about cycling issues in AR-15 carbines, and considering the advantage of being able to use varied ammo in an autoloader, I had a thought.

Could there maybe be an advantage in having an area in the gas system before it hits the piston or before it impinges into a carrier system? A chamber for pressure to build up so that it has energy to cycle the action but the chamber pressure is lower at that time, which would be better for extraction. I wonder if such a thing would be better for using varied ammo, ie having the greater preessure mean it would be bled off at a higher rate, adding some if not a complete neutralizing effect to the higher pressures of some ammo.

Yay, nay?
