That was one FUGLY gun, and not too effective - thus it didn't enter service in any numbers. Still, ten grand for a full-auto ain't bad these days! Prices are really climbing. A buddy has his Class III, and his little Cobray MAC has tripled in value since he bought it.

I'd go broke feeding a Class III gun . . .

One unique looking gun. I'd shoot it, but I wouldn't buy it!

You guys ever hear of the Pederson device?

In case anyone hasn't, it was developed during WWI to convert the Springfield Rifle into a semi-automatic.

Pedersen device - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My nephew, who takes care of my Dad, thought the old man had finally gone over the edge when he started claiming that such a thing had existed; turned out he was telling the literal truth.

Something I didn't know until I looked up the Wikipedia article for this post is that versions were also designed for the M1917 Enfield and the Mosin Nagant, and models actually built. Wouldn't mind having one for my Mosins...

Since the Pederson Device used the .32ACP pistol cartridge, recoil in a rifle platform would be nil. It'd be a true 'bullet hose'! However, it was semi-auto, not full auto, IIRC. Also the magazine wasn't that big. Most were destroyed on orders of the War Department - so they are extremely rare!

I Love the way it looks, overly mechanical.

I don't mind the looks at all

Then again I like oil rigs, and clocks and computers with transparent cases so you can see the innards. So I may not be a reliable arbiter of beauty.

I'd be more worried about the weight. If my memory is correct a kg is about 2.2 lbs, so 8 kilograms comes out to 17.6 pounds.

Being an old mechanic, I appreciate the thought process and ingenuity that goes into something like this, BUT, I also used to work with a guy who did a lot of coke and speed who built his own garage-door opener. The first time I saw it in action, I almost wet my pants laughing. He used a washing-machine motor and a chain-drive set-up at close to a 1-1 ratio. That was the fastest dang garage door that I've ever seen. Unfortunately, it self-destructed after about three weeks. It was pretty fugly too, come to think of it!
