Marlin Golden 39A Mountie

As you can see in my avatar, I foolishly put a glossy finish on my Marlin years ago. Now I'd like to restore the gun to as near to original as I can. Anyone got a good remedy?

sand her down and oil it.

boiled linseed i believe
