| Senior Member | dont force it My cousin brought in a Rem model 550-1 she said her nephew was shooting it and it just "came apart" so after putting it back together she brought it to me. Well now I have to deal with a cross threaded receiver plug. It looks like the nephew used a pipe wrench on it. The reason Im writing this is to tell the avg gun owner DO NOT FORCE THINGS IF THEY DONT SEEM TO FIT if you are trying to assemble something please do not force it together. now I have to deal with a part that is cockeyed and galled all to hell and back. If you are a smith you allready know. This is written for the new owner and to remind veteran owners as well. Spread the word. DONT FORCE IT and DONT USE HARDENED TOOLS ON YOUR PARTS. Sorry for ranting.

| Well said. Can I also add that not EVERYTHING needs to be set with red lock tight! If you ever plan on removing that screw again, try using blue; it works just as well in most cases and be broken free later without heat.
