| Senior Member | Bolt face diameters-K98 vs. Swede 96 ? Question? I have barreled a 98 action chambered for the 6.5x55 Swede cartridge. The 6.5 base is wider than the standard 8mm or 06 case, .473". Do I need to have bolt face opened up so the case wont be cocked or miss-aligned with the chamber? Barrel is Adams and Barnett.

You shouldn't have any problems with it. There's only .003" difference between the two case heads, and the bolt face is machined with plenty of tolerance.

quite frankly, it depends on who's brass/ammo you plan to use in it. most ammo uses the small rim diameter, only a couple (lapua/norma) use the correct rim diameter.

Thats a nice group for a hunting rifle! WHat all have you done to get it to that point? ( tell us everything, we need porn!) We might be able to help you get it below that 3/4 mark.

Getting a .75" group with a military action is about all you can expect and frankly it surprises me that you get that good.As stated the bolt face is already opened up enough to handle the larger rim. sam.
