Blocked Barrel

I’m sure you’ve seen this type of thing before…….
I local gun shop owner asked our machine shop to remove a section of this barrel to see what was inside.
It is a Taurus long barrelled revolver and the owner had taken it back to the shop after only having it a few days. As you can see there are probably 8 rounds stuck in the barrel, the first 5 are jacketed and the last 3 are lead.
The front bullet is now flat nosed as the owner had put a rod down the barrel and attempted to hammer out the blockage. Obviously that wasn’t going to work…..

Several comments come to mind:

The loads were WAY under powered.

The Taurus design was incredibly safe and forgiving of the owner's stupidity.

The owner SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO EVER OWN ANOTHER GUN, until he/she gets educated on how they work.

The owner probably shoots so bad he's used to not seeing holes on the target when he pulls the trigger!

After the first didnt fire then why didnt he realize that he better stop and see what the hell happened. Like Ten Man said, They had to be undercharged because it would have blown something open and maybe not a nice ending. He,s lucky that it was only a busted barrel and not schrapnel flying around.

I agree entirely with all your comments. It also worries me that you could find yourself unknowingly on a range next to an idiot such as this as clearly someone alongside would be in as much danger (if not more) than they are.

But in this case knowing the gunshop owner I doubt the owner of the gun got off lightly.

At a gun show a few years ago, dealer had a rifle barrel on display that had been cut-away, revealing the bore. Don't recall what caliber barrel was, but certainly was not a .22. There were at least 5 bullets lodged in the bore.
